Privacy Policy
Last updated: 25 August 2026
This privacy notice describes how Hemsley Building Services collects and uses personal data. We comply with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) is our supervisory authority.
1. In plain English, before the legal wording
Your enquiry comes directly to us. We prepare the quotation and we carry out the work ourselves, so your details are not passed to another contractor. Nothing changes hands.
That means we receive your name, your contact details, your postcode, what you asked for, and any photographs you sent. We use it to quote your job and for nothing else. We do not sell your details, we do not pass them to a panel of contractors to bid over, and we do not add you to a marketing list. If you decide not to go ahead, that is the end of it: no follow-up sales calls and no doorstep visits.
2. Information we collect
When you contact us through this site or request a quotation, we collect: name, email, phone number, postcode, the details of the job you describe, and any photographs you choose to upload. We may also collect anonymous analytics (page views, referrer, device type).
3. Lawful basis for processing
We process your personal data on the following lawful bases:
- Legitimate interests: to respond to your enquiry, prepare quotations and arrange site visits.
- Contract: when you become a customer, to carry out the agreed driveway, patio or hard landscaping work.
- Legal obligation: to retain business records for tax, accounting and regulatory purposes.
- Consent: for non-essential cookies and any marketing communications (you can withdraw consent at any time).
4. How we use your information
We use your contact information to respond to your enquiry, to arrange a site visit, and to prepare and send your quotation. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing.
5. Cookies
This site uses essential cookies for functionality and, with your consent, analytics cookies to understand site usage. See our cookie policy for details, including your rights under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
6. Data retention
Enquiry data is kept no longer than needed to deal with the enquiry. If you become a customer, business records are kept in line with statutory limitation periods and HMRC requirements, typically six years from the end of the job.
7. Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Be informed about how we use your data (this notice).
- Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Rectification: correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Erasure ("right to be forgotten") in certain circumstances.
- Restrict processing in certain circumstances.
- Data portability: receive your data in a portable format.
- Object to processing based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent.
To exercise any of these rights, email markhemsley19@gmail.com. We will respond within one calendar month.
8. Complaints
If you believe we have mishandled your personal data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or by calling 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to address your concerns first.
9. Contact
Questions about this notice? Email markhemsley19@gmail.com or call 07912 282762. You can also write to us at 50 Ashdene Avenue, Crofton, Wakefield WF4 1LY.
10. Who else sees your data
No third party contractor. We prepare your quotation and carry out the work ourselves, so your enquiry is not passed to any other contractor, installer or lead service.
We also use the following third-party processors to operate this website. Each processor is used under its own published terms and privacy policy, linked below.
- Web3Forms (Web3Creative). Processes quote form submissions and routes them to our email address. Data is transferred to servers outside the UK under the provider's data processing agreement and standard contractual clauses. See their privacy policy.
- Cloudflare Turnstile (Cloudflare, Inc.). The quote form uses Turnstile for bot detection, which processes request metadata to check that a submission is human. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.
- Hosting and analytics (Cloudflare, Inc.). This site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, which records cookieless page views (URL, referrer, country, device type) and stores no personal identifiers and sets no tracking cookie. See the Cloudflare privacy policy.
- Google Analytics 4 (Google Ireland Limited). Used to understand how visitors find and use the site. It sets cookies and your IP address is anonymised before storage. It runs only if you press Accept on the cookie banner; decline or ignore it and Google Analytics is never loaded. Data may be transferred outside the UK under Google's standard contractual clauses. See the Google privacy policy.
International transfers: Web3Forms processes data in the United States, and Google Analytics data may be processed outside the UK. These transfers are made on the basis of standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards under UK GDPR Article 46. If you have concerns about international transfers, you may complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.
